Title: Last Year’s Mistake
Author: Gina Ciocca
Recommend Age: 14 and up
In the dramatic book, Last Year’s Mistake, Kelsey takes the opportunity to move away from Connecticut to Rhode Island in order to forget about her tragic ending between her best friend, David. A year later, Kelsey is a whole new person with a seemingly perfect life, which disintegrates when David’s family relocates to her neighborhood. Throughout the book, Kelsey resists letting her second chance at happiness go to waste, but the time she spends with David makes her question what she truly desires.
The idea of the story made sense, but at times it seemed like it kept playing on and I was a bit annoyed that Kelsey couldn’t make up her mind about David. The author did a good job of revealing the background by switching off the past and present between chapters. The story kept it interesting and in the end it was slightly cliche yet satisfying. Those who are romantic drama fanatics may enjoy reading this book. Provided that they can handle some mature content.
