From brave cavalry rides deep into enemy grounds to troubling and risky covert missions undertaken by both spies and soldiers, the American Civil War was full of daring figures and astonishing achievements.

This book series-Guts & Glory has 4 books based on historical events and wars. In this particular book, Guts & Glory: The American Civil War tells how it started, where it took place, and the characters (soldiers, generals, spies, etc) written in an engaging novel. The author himself is a verteran for 15 years and his 8 ancestors from his father’s side who served in the Battle of First Manassas. I really enjoyed this book because the author tells from experience, in a descriptive and fun way, the story behind the American Civil War. It was a thrilling, adventurous journey through the very first to the last page of the novel. This book deserves a 4/5 rating because the story is based on a true event, a war that happened in the American history that was written by a descendant of soldiers at that time.
