STEELHEART is a dystopian novel told through the perspective of David, an orphaned teenager living in Newcago (formerly known as Chicago). Newcago is ruled by the most powerful Epic known, Steelheart, who has created a society where people are ruled by Epics and have to fear  Epics as they may be killed at any moment. The story follows David on his quest for revenge and justice to kill Steelheart for killing his father and imprisoning the people of Newcago in a reign of terror.

Introduction to the Characters:

David Charleston, an orphaned teen living in Newcago, desires to be part of the shady collective known as the Reckoners. After his father was killed by the notoriously godlike High Epic, Steelheart, all David can think about was revenge.

Steelheart, a High Epic with an impossible amount of powers rules over Newcago with fear and a steel fist (quite literally). He has only one weakness and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep that weakness from being exposed.

My favourite part of the book was the amount of suspense, action, and cliffhangers the author, Brandon Sanderson, had packed into the book. This made the book a definite page-turner and urged you to read another page each time you were about to put the book down. The character development and description also made this story interesting to read as Sanderson showed all the character imperfections and flaws which made the characters relatable to readers.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Action, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, and Dystopian books! I would especially recommend this to people who like books similar to that of Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir and Scythe by Neal Shusterman. I have personally read both “Scythe” and “Steelheart” and I extremely recommend reading this book if you enjoyed reading “Scythe.” But in general, this book is suitable for anyone and I highly recommend reading this book.
