If you’ve ever walked into the children’s area at Cedar Mill Library, you may have missed our Parent Teacher Collection (Hint: it’s in the corner nearest the fish tank). Browse these shelves and you’ll discover an abundance of  resources written for parents and educators, as well as books for kids on special issues such as potty training, new siblings, divorce/separation, illness, etc.

Most of the collection is focused on early childhood-birth to Kindergarten- along with some titles that include school age and teens.  You’ll find many resources on child development and early childhood education. We have monthly displays of new materials and feature seasonal subjects like “Back to School” and “Kindergarten Readiness”. We also have information on community resources such as finding childcare, etc. Are you a Bethany Library patron? You’ll be happy to know our Bethany location also has this collection on a smaller scale.

Since school is just around the corner, we’ve created booklists for parents, teachers, and kids to help ease into the new academic year. Don’t see something you need? Please let us know and we’ll do our best to help! We regularly offer info and tips on early literacy and more on our blog posts and parent page. If you are a child care provider, learn about our Bookshare program, professional trainings and more on our Child Care Provider page.
