Need access to books online for your family or students? The following companies, who publish quality books purchased for our in-library collections, have generously offered their online content for FREE for the remainder of the school year.
National Geographic Kids has over 596 non-fiction (and a few fiction) books available through our online catalog. Go to Homework Help (under Research), scroll to Reference Books Online, National Geographic Kids and enter your library card number to access. Once there, many of National Geographic’s most popular titles are available at no cost and no waiting. Titles include: Quiz Whiz, Just Joking, Weird but True and This or That? Many leveled readers on topics such as animals, biographies and history are also accessible.
Crabtree Publishing is offering its enlso included are many of their tire ebook collection for free through June 30, 2020. These 2500+ books support curriculum areas for grades K-9 and include English and Spanish language editions. No registration is required and searches can be refined by opening the “Search Field Display”. This provides options for choosing reading level and subject so that users can more easily find appropriate books. For fiction books, choose “Fiction” in the “Subject” list.
Big Timber Media has provided free access to their Distance Learning Bundles until June 30, 2020. These books support curriculum areas from Preschool to grade 12, including English and Spanish editions. Search by reading level and narrow down by subject including Animals, Arts & Activities, Biographies, Fiction, and Social Studies. Publishers include ABDO, Cherry Lake Publishing,The Child’s World and Sleeping Bear Press.
J. Appleseed Media distributes some of the most popular children’s nonfiction publishers, including Creative Education, Amicus, Black Rabbit, and Jump. They have put together a well-rounded collection of books in subjects for grades K-6 and are generously making it available for free through May 31 of this year.
Junior Library Guild Looking for activities and resources to keep students engaged during this “new-normal” of school closures and social distancing? Junior Library Guild has high quality fiction and non-fiction available for school age children through high school. Everything is free and new books are added regularly. There is also an app available.
12-Story Library is sharing their entire eBook Library through May 31, 2020, with content for students in grades 4 through 12. Non-fiction books include a portal to connect students to a multitude of resources and up-to-date news about that topic. Start with the “Find Your Book” tab and explore by series name.
