Black History Month is a special time to recognize and honor the African American legacy. It’s also a great opportunity to introduce young readers to African Americans who have contributed to culture and history. Check out our booklists for recommended titles from Black authors as well as stories for kids that highlight important people and events. Many titles in our K-5 list are true stories or fictionalized- but based on true events in history. Biographies about Black individuals who have made important contributions to society are also included.
