A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab
A must-read fantasy book for any fans of the genre. The world(s) and characters Schwab has created are absolutely mesmerizing and will leave you wanting more.  -Carrie

In the Not Quite Dark: Stories by Dana Johnson
This short story collection has a strong sense of place (Los Angeles) that connects the varied lives and histories of each chapter’s unique character.  -Rinna

Spill Simmer Falter Wither by Sara Baume
A stunning, gorgeously written story,  told over four seasons, about a misfit man who adopts a misfit dog and a road trip that changes everything, including the reader.  -Donna

A timely and engaging story about an African-American labor & delivery nurse, her white supremacist patients, and the public defender that ends up representing the nurse when the patients’ baby dies after a routine procedure.  -Nicole C.

The Bed Moved: Stories by Rebecca Schiff
Schiff magnifies modern tragedies with a fresh, sparse wit that is smart, hilarious and uniquely honest without bitterness or devaluation of the emotional concerns. If you enjoy the writings of George Saunders, you must check out Rebecca Schiff.  -Jennifer

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
So intensely compelling, so completely consuming and crushing, I couldn’t believe I was merely reading a novel.   -Sarah

The Game of Thrones series by George R. R. Martin
