Read to the Dogs @ Bethany Library

Read to the Dogs is a program that pairs young readers with trained dog-and-handler teams. This program helps children develop their reading skills in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. Reservations are Required. To register, drop by or call the Bethany Branch at (503) 617-7323. Due to the popularity of this program, we ask that you please sign up for a maximum of one 30-minute session per quarter.

After School Fun – THPRD Nature Mobile @ Bethany Library

The Nature Mobile brings the environment to the library! Each month will feature new ways for your child to explore the exciting role nature has in their lives. Your children will get to touch, smell, and see new things that will spark their imagination and grow their awareness of the world. Come to the library and discover nature’s diversity! September: Changing Leaves and Forest Trees: What trees make up our native forests? Dissect a seed, hunt for leaves, and learn about the changes our forests go through as autumn arrives.October: Spooktacular Pumpkins: Jack O’Lanterns, Giant Pumpkins, and Pumpkin Kings, Oh My! Come learn about the history and folklore of this popular fruit.November: Migrate/Hibernate/Acclimate: How do animals survive once winter arrives? Peek inside where animals hide and see the lengths they go to travel from snow. December: Weather and Water: Why do we have so much rain in the winter? Become a raindrop and learn why water flows into our region during the wintertime.
