On March 22, the Bethany Library held a community meeting at Laurel Parc to share information and an update on the status of the branch expansion.  Over 45 community members attended the event, where Peter Leonard, CMCLA Executive Director, and Marianne Coalson, Bethany Branch Manager, presented.  Peter and Marianne provided a history of the Bethany Branch and information about the community demographics and the library’s rapid growth.  They also shared architectural renderings of the proposed new library space and discussed the library’s funding structure.  See statistics and more details here: Bethany Library Expansion Meeting March 22 2017 Presentation (PDF)  After the presentation, community members shared feedback and asked questions.

It was very exciting to see this many members of the community attend our first expansion meeting.  Several community members signed up to be on the fundraising committee, which will begin meeting later this spring.  The library is looking forward to engaging more and more of the community as we move closer to being able to formally kick off an expansion effort.
